Take your leadership to the next level with our 5-day Rainbow leader’s course - providing a space for those stepping up to drive change within our LGBTTQIAP+ community to grow, connect, and push their boundaries in a highly supportive environment. You’ll be placed in a team with 13 others, working together in the immersive outdoors to explore your ultimate leadership potential. ​

PROGRAMME

Outward Bound Professional will put you in real situations with real consequences. You'll take on a series of experiential challenges using the bush and waterways of the Marlborough Sounds as your classroom. You'll work through situations while tramping, camping, at sea and in the water, and during height activities, that will all challenge you physically, mentally and emotionally.​​

These outdoor activities are integrated with workshop sessions led by our expert facilitators who will help you maximise the impact of your learnings and assist you in embedding these skills back in your workplace.​

OUTCOMES

In preparation for the programme, you will complete a Team Management Profile (TMP) online that will identify your preferred working style. The outcomes of this tool are presented during workshop sessions where you will learn about your own working style and others, and witness these styles come to life during the activities and challenges. ​

SOFT SKILLS

  • Building connection with a community: you’ll strengthen relationships with rainbow leaders. This is a space where you can breathe out with supportive peers and navigate networks as a leader and a team member. ​

  • Authentically me: Be you. Learning to show up as yourself in your workplace and community and navigating the fear of what others think ​

  • Learning through discomfort: Being vulnerable through immersive experiences and supporting each other through times of physical and emotional challenge ​

  • Values awareness: Consideration of your own and other people’s values. User your values to guide your personal vision, goals or direction. ​

When you come to Outward Bound, there are items that you will need to bring with you and items that we will supply. As for the things that you need to bring - we encourage you to borrow as many items as you can, or buy second hand!

Sarah Tocker

A well respected, all-round leadership specialist, Sarah has been working as a coach and facilitator for over a decade. She has a background in leadership development, systems leadership, culture and change, and is interested in helping organisations thrive in times of change and adaptation. Sarah works with people wanting to influence or lead well in complex or challenging situations, as well as those focused on making the good exceptional.

Sarah has completed postgraduate study in Education and Leadership and thinks about the application of this in the real world. Known as a straight-talker and for her ability to see the core issues, Sarah enables groups and individuals to work on these in a safe and meaningful way.
