SUPPORT WORKERS
We are always seeking volunteers who are keen to give back to Outward Bound and become support workers for our disability courses. This is a great opportunity to help others get the most out of their OB experience.
CRITERIA
Being a support worker involves supporting a watch of Outward Bound participants, with either intellectual disabilities or physical disabilities.
You must have completed an Outward Bound course
Have the enthusiasm, maturity and patience to deal with the demands of the role
Ideally, have some experience working with those with disabilities
Be available for 9 days (8 days of course + arrival one day early to prepare)
Pass our medical screening criteria (just the same as when you attended your own course)
"Overall being a support worker was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone, if they got the chance..."
Being a part of our watches journey was something so special as you see the raw emotion in every challenge and witness the students grow, adapt and overcome the obstacles in their own, individual way. I am truly privileged to have been a part of their journey. Being a support worker was a whole new way to experience OB, but one that was just as amazing, challenging and as rewarding as my first OB course."
